  1. Am I able to send my contacts from my old phone to my Optimus via Bluetooth?
    The process for transferring contacts from one phone to another can vary according to make and model.  You should refer to the User Guide specific to your phone for instructions on transferring your contact list.
  2. Am I able to send my contacts from my old phone to my Zio via Bluetooth?

    The Zio does not support contact transfer via Bluetooth (OPP) natively on the device, downloading an app is how this can be accomplished.

     

    1.       Turn on Bluetooth

    a.       Menu

    b.      Settings

    c.       Wireless & networks

    d.      Bluetooth on

    e.      Bluetooth settings

    f.        Add trusted

    2.       Go to Android Market

    3.       Search for “Bluetooth File Transfer” by Medieval Software – free, download and install

    4.       On the sending phone, transfer contacts

    5.       Once done, tap Contacts on the Zio phone

    a.       Menu

    b.      Import/Export

    c.       Import from SD card

    d.      Import all vCard files

  3. Are apps from the Apple Store and Blackberry App World compatible with my Smartphone?
    No.  Each Operating System has their own store with apps that are compatible with their operating systems only.  You will need to purchase all apps for your i-wireless Smartphone from the Android Market.
  4. Are there free apps available for my Smartphone?
    Yes, the Android Market offers a variety of free apps for you to download.  Simply touch the Market icon on your home screen and you can view the Android Market.
  5. Can I purchase apps for my Smartphone?
    Yes, you may purchase apps for your i-wireless Smartphone using the Android Market.
  6. Can I use my account balance to purchase an application from the Android Market?
    No.  The money in your account balance may only be used to purchase airtime, text messages, ringtones, games and other downloads from the i-wireless platform.  You will need to use a debit or credit card to make purchases from the Android Market.
  7. Can I use my FREE MINUTES to purchase an application from the Android Market?
    No.  Much like the money in your i-wireless account balance, FREE MINUTES cannot be used to purchase apps from the Android Market.
  8. Can I view attachments (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with my Smartphone?

    Yes, however it requires an Android App in order to do so.  With that, the following is a list of several Android Apps that will allow you to manage Microsoft attachments:

    1)  OliveOfficeBasic - FREE - allows you to view
    2)  OliveOfficePremium - FREE - allows you to view and edit
    3)  Documents To Go 3.0 Main App - FREE - allows you to view only
    4)  Documents To Go Full Version - $14.99 - allows you to edit and/or create new
    5)  Net Front Life Documents Pro - FREE (with ads) - allows you to view only
    6)  Net Front Life Documents Pro - $1.99 (no ads) - allows you to view only

  9. Do FREE MINUTES apply to my Smartphone?
    Yes!  Your FREE MINUTES rewards are applied to your Smartphone as they are applied to any other i-wireless handset.
  10. Do I need a specific plan to use my Smartphone?

    No.  Any i-wireless plan will work on a smartphone, however, please keep in mind the amount of data usage associated with Smartphones when picking your plan.  Each plan offers a different amount of data, so be sure to choose the plan that best suits your data consumption.

  11. How do I activate my Optimus?
    Activating your Optimus is simple.  Just follow these steps:
    1) Insert the battery into the back of the phone. Press and hold the red POWER button and wait for your phone to power on.  Do not attempt to use your phone at this time.
    2)  Your phone will begin the over-the-air programming while it communicates with the network. Be patient, this may take several minutes.
    3)  Your phone will go through a series of programming screens.  Follow any on-screen prompts by pressing OK as needed.  When the over-the-air programming is complete, your phone will power off then back on.
    4)  Once your phone powers back on, you may need to unlock the main screen by sliding the UNLOCK button to the right.  A message will appear instructing you to UPDATE PRL. Press CANCEL when this message appears.
    5)  You are now ready to select your plan by calling 611 directly from your phone.  Follow the prompts to select your plan and add money to your account using a debit or credit card or by redeeming an i-wireless airtime card.  Note:  you may need to open the 'Tonepad' on your handset in order to make selections.
    6)  Register for the FREE MINUTES* rewards program by entering your Shopper's or Rewards card number.  Each time you spend $100 at participating Kroger-owned stores, you'll automatically receive a FREE MINUTES reward applied to your account.
    7)  You will receive your Optimus number, and enter your 4-digit account passcode at this time in order to complete the activation process.

    *FREE MINUTES program is not available in Food4Less locations.

    After your activation is complete, you will receive a text message detailing how to download the i-wireless My Account app for your Optimus.
  12. How do I activate my Zio?

    Activating your Zio is simple.  Just follow these steps:

  13. How do I make a call on my Smartphone?
    To make a call on your Smartphone, go to the Main menu by selecting the Home option.  Then hit Phone.  You can then search your contacts and call log or manually enter a phone number.
  14. How do I set up my email on my Zio?

    Gmail:
    To use the Android Market, you will need a Gmail account.  To set up a new Gmail account or sync your current Gmail account, touch the Home option, then the Arrow at the bottom of the screen, then Gmail.  Follow the onscreen instructions to set up the account.

    Corporate Email/Microsoft Exchange
    The Exchange Email application provides access to your Outlook Exchange server via your device.  You may use this email application system if you are using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007.  For detailed instructions on how to use this type of email, please reference your user manual and your network administrator or IT personnel.

  15. How do I set up my voicemail on my Smartphone?
    Setting up your voicemail is easy:

    1.  Touch the Home option on your phone, then select the Phone option

    2.  Dial 1 and hit Talk

    3.  In the Personalize Your Voicemail dialog box, touch Personalize Now

    4.  Follow the voice prompts to Create Your Password, Record your Name Announcement and Record Your Greeting.
  16. Is there a limit on the number of apps I can purchase?
    There is no limit in terms of the number of apps you can purchase from the Android Market. 
  17. Is there an app for My Account?
    Yes, once your Smartphone is activated, you will receive a text message with instructions on how to download the i-wireless My Account app. 

    This app will allow you to change rate plans, make payments and monitor your i-wireless account.

  18. What do I need to do to set up an account to purchase apps?
    To access the Android Market, touch the Home option on your phone, then Market.  You will then need to accept the terms of use. 

    You will need to set up a Gmail account to access the Android Market.  You can do this on your phone or online at www.gmail.com.  You may then begin browsing the Android Market.
  19. What is a widget?
    A widget is a small application that runs interactively on the home screen of your phone.  Mobile widgets are applications that can be installed on your Smartphone to functionality to the device.
  20. What is an Android Phone?
    Android is an operating system platform that was built to enable developers to create rich mobile applications that take full advantage of all of the capabilities of a mobile phone.  This means you can browse the web, browse and download thousands of applications to fit whatever need you have and you have ongoing enhancements to your phone's capabilities.

    Phones that use the Android Operating System use the system to remain up-to-date on standard updates and allow users to access the Android Market for thousands of apps that can be downloaded to personalize each phone.
